NEW! Launching Summer 2025!

Civic Hubs Initiative

Foster the capacity of social work leaders to build community-based civic hubs that strengthen connection and democracy.

Community Served: Social workers and community members nationwide

Impact

Empowering emerging social workers to launch and lead civic hubs

Empower social work students nationwide to co-create and lead community-based hubs that advance democratic participation, social justice, and local solutions.

Grounded in the principles of community organizing, civic education, transpartisan dialogue, and systems change, this initiative supports students in designing hubs that bring together residents, community organizations, and public systems to address pressing social challenges.

Through hands-on training, mentorship, and access to tools and frameworks, students will explore how to:

  • Build bridges between communities and institutions
  • Cultivate civic engagement and democratic dialogue
  • Coordinate cross-sector networks to drive change
  • Design sustainable structures rooted in community voice

Civic Hubs are not one-size-fits-all—they emerge from local needs and strengths. Whether based in schools, libraries, health centers, or neighborhoods, each hub is a space for collaboration, collective learning, and shared leadership.

Together, we are growing a new generation of citizen social work leaders who practice democracy as a daily act—and build the civic infrastructure our communities deserve.
