Adam Popper
I believe everyone deserves fair treatment, justice in care and in life, and opportunities for a healthy and supported future, which is why I do my part to advance robust dialogues and research to support a shared space for all.
The work of Finance and Operations Manager Adam Popper is crucial to the various managerial needs of the research staff and faculty of the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health (CISWH). On any given day, you may find him preparing and reviewing budgets, instituting or updating policies and procedures, or drafting plans and content for grant submissions. His role touches on high-level oversight of all centralized aspects of CISWH’s operations.
Adam brings to his role a robust set of experiences in nonprofit and business management in the youth recreation and corporate spaces. He held an office management role at AKF Group, a leading engineering firm in New York. It was in this formative experience that he built out personal philosophies of team support and management, as well as streamlined operations.
Adam then spent nine years as the associate director of Camp Poyntelle, a premier residential youth program of a large nonprofit based in Queens, NY, where he oversaw all aspects of the business. His work included serving as a key leader of a community of 400, engaging new clients, developing marketing plans, and sustaining relationships across many years. With a seasonal team of 130+, Adam oversaw and implemented a complex system of recruitment, hiring, and training of staff from 20-25 US states and 15+ countries around the world. His management of a multi-million-dollar budget allowed his systematizing of various financial processes. Further, he oversaw operations for full-time and seasonal medical, food service, maintenance, and housekeeping teams on a 500-acre facility. All the while, he maintained a cultural identity in a legacy environment with yearly national accreditation successes. In 2025, Adam joined the Alumni Board of his former youth organization.
It is through these many experiences that Adam has become a strident advocate for connection, meaning, mindfulness, and thoughtfulness when it comes to operations and finance in a university setting.
Adam earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management, with concentrations in finance and economics, at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He also completed additional graduate-level coursework in pure mathematics, including a focus on real analysis and differential equations.
