Expertise: Policy and systems change Research

My goal is to contribute to the reimagining of how we pursue social justice and equity by leveraging forward-thinking methods that address the complexities of our modern world.

Jess Rogers is a Policy Fellow with BU’s Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health. In this role, she examines The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, and the current administration’s executive orders and policies that impact education, the LGBTQIA+ community, and women’s rights.

Rogers began her career in human services at Community Connections, a nonprofit that works with adults living with various developmental disabilities. At Transitions Centers Inc., she was coordinator for the Employment Program, then program administrator for employment services. During this time, she partnered with local school districts to create an employment skills curriculum for high school students in the special education departments.

As a preschool teacher at the Sunflower School, Rogers was appointed to the Monomoy Regional School Committee in 2021, after serving on the Chatham School Council and the Monomoy Early Childhood Education Council. At that time, she also served as a member of the Cape Cod Collaborative Board of Directors, where she served until February 2025.

At the Chatham Council on Aging, Rogers served as programs and communications coordinator until she was promoted to outreach coordinator, working to combat isolation and loneliness in older adults within the community. She applied for and received a grant to expand a program for the LGBTQ+ Older Adult group she ran.

Rogers is currently a clinical MSW student at BU. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State University, where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, and earned an associate degree from Cape Cod Community College and became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa.
