Margaret (Meg) Comeau
I am dedicated to improving child quality of life, family well-being, and disability justice, combining professional experience with lived expertise as the parent of a now-young adult with a medically and behaviorally complex genetic syndrome.
Senior Project Director Meg Comeau serves as a member of the senior leadership team at the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health (CISWH). She has been with CISWH since 2017 and with Boston University (BU) since 2005.
An accomplished researcher in child health policy, Meg focuses on health coverage, benefits, care delivery improvement, and access for children and youth with special health care needs, including those with complex conditions. She has successfully led the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of multiple research and quality improvement projects, securing approximately $14 million in funding from federal entities and private foundations.
Nationally recognized for her expertise in children and youth with special health care needs, Meg is frequently invited to share her knowledge and perspective through writing and lecturing on topics such as Medicaid policy, disability justice, and quality improvement practices in both pediatric primary and specialty care. She has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and served as an editor of two special supplements to the journal Pediatrics. Her service to the field includes serving on multiple national steering committees, workgroups, and boards, including the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Research Network and the Family Voices Policy Council. She serves as co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Association’s Complex Care and Disability Special Interest Group.
Meg excels in managing internal and external fiscal responsibilities, including the development and oversight of multi-million-dollar budgets. She is skilled at building coalitions and fostering collaborative partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including state public health agencies, family leadership organizations, and pediatric provider networks. Her role at CISWH encompasses the hiring, management, and supervision of interdisciplinary project teams, reflecting her commitment to advancing child health policy through both strategic leadership and hands-on team development.
Meg holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from Simmons University, where she graduated with distinction.
