I'm motivated by the opportunity to solve meaningful problems, support others, and grow in skill and perspective. I do this work because it challenges me, aligns with what I care about, and lets me make a difference in ways that feel authentic.

As a Graduate Research Assistant at CISWH, Jadon Demeritte analyzes robust datasets to support the social work profession. She contributes to data summaries, tables, visualizations, and reports that inform policy briefs, manuscripts, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.

Before joining CISWH, Jadon gained hands-on public health and research experience across clinical, laboratory, and community settings. As an intern at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas, she designed and automated a transfusion confirmation tracking system that reduced manual processing time by 60% and analyzed provider survey data to identify workload and quality improvement trends. Her research experience extends into community-based mental health as well. As an Active Minds Emerging Scholar Fellow, she led a mixed-methods study examining mental health experiences and help-seeking behaviors among first-generation college students. Beyond direct research, she contributed to the peer-reviewed ebook “Podcast Annotation and Resources in Microbiology” from Iowa State University, co-authoring an annotated podcast chapter of the “This Week in Microbiology (TWIM)” podcast: “TWiM #316: Food Addiction and the Gut Microbiome.”

Jadon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Public Health from Hartwick College, graduating cum laude. As an undergraduate, she conducted laboratory-based research on archaeal riboswitches and analyzed gene expression patterns using statistical and molecular techniques. Outside of the laboratory, she took coursework in social work and public health, strengthening her commitment to using data to advance health equity among underrepresented populations. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Boston University School of Public Health, with functional certificates in Biostatistics and Epidemiology and Global Health Program Design, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
